A Long Overdue August Catch-Up

Remember when I said I was taking the weekend off for the Fourth of July and would be back mid July?

LOL. Fat joke.

Somehow it is now the first week of August, and I genuinely feel like it has been FOREVER since we’ve just sat down and had a little chat. Apparently, taking a break is something I am still learning how to do. 😂

If you’ve been keeping up with me over on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me absolutely pumping out wholesale orders over the last few weeks — and honestly, it has been SO amazing. I’ve been packing, painting, emailing, shipping, designing, and doing approximately 47 things at once, but I really wouldn’t have it any other way.

One of the coolest parts has been getting to chat with so many incredible women who own needlepoint shops all across the country. Every wholesale order feels like a little “OMG, people actually want my stuff in their shops” moment, and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of that feeling.

And speaking of things I still can’t quite believe…

Let’s Stitch Studio is now in almost 50 shops across the country.

FIFTY.

That feels absolutely massive to me.

When I started Let’s Stitch Studio, I obviously hoped it would grow, but I don’t think I ever really pictured my little NJ-based studio sending canvases all over the country and sitting on the shelves of shops I’ve never even been to. It is such a surreal feeling to know that something I’m painting at my desk is making its way into needlepoint shops from coast to coast.

And the best part? We’re not even done yet.

I’m so excited to see where this little business goes next. There are so many new designs I want to paint, collaborations I want to work on, shops I want to work with, and ideas that have been bouncing around in my head for months. It feels like Let’s Stitch Studio is really starting to become a thing, and I am having the absolute best time figuring out what that looks like.

So, naturally, when we hit 50 shops, I feel like we probably need to celebrate.

I’m not saying there might be a little shhhmiveaway over on Instagram…

But I’m also not not saying that.

Food for thought.

Anyway, thank you for being here and following along while I continue to figure this whole thing out. Whether you’ve purchased a canvas, stocked my designs in your shop, stitched one of my pieces, shared my work with a friend, or just hang out here and cheer me on from Instagram — I seriously appreciate you more than you know.

There have also been LOTS of new canvas additions to the website lately, including some bigger designs! I’ve started doing preorders on some of my larger canvases too, which has been a fun way for me to add some of these more detailed designs to the shop without completely drowning myself in a sea of paint. 😂

They’re still all being painted right here in the studio by me — the preorder just gives me a little extra wiggle room to get those bigger guys painted and out the door. Bigger canvas, bigger painting commitment, you know the drill!

Stitch Guides Coming Soon…

Okay, let’s talk about stitch guides, because I am SO CLOSE to having a couple ready for you!

Elisabeta’s Kokoshnik and Spooky Night On The Town are both ALMOST DONE, and I am at that point where I can practically see the finish line. I’ve been sharing little snippets of both over on Instagram, but I cannot wait to actually have them finished so I can show you the whole projects!

After this blog goes up, I am officially clocking out and plopping myself on the sofa for the weekend. My plans are very glamorous: needlepoint in hand, probably a cup of tea next to me, and absolutely no intention of doing anything else productive!!! I want to get these last few stitches in and just enjoy the process of finishing them up.

And then comes the fun part — stitch guides!

I’ve already been making notes as I stitch about the stitches I’m using, the threads I’m pairing together, and all the little things I’m doing along the way, so once these are finished I’ll photograph everything and start putting the guides together. I’m really excited about these because both projects have such fun stitch combinations, and I think they’ll be a great way to see how I’m approaching the designs beyond just the painted canvas.

There is something I really love about seeing a painted canvas go from “hmm, I think I’m going to stitch this this way” to a completely finished piece. And now I get to take all of those little decisions and turn them into something you can actually use on your own projects.

So that’s what’s happening over here this weekend: stitching, finishing, photographing, and then writing, writing, writing.
